GM Lordstown plant to shut down a week earlier for holiday break

Updated:

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - General Motors employees at the Lordstown plant will get an extra week of holiday time off whether they want it or not.

According to a local UAW president, the plant will shut down one week ahead of its regularly scheduled holiday break.

Workers will not be compensated for the additional time off. However, some may file for unemployment.

The change in schedule is to help adjust inventory at a time when sales typically drop off.
