More importantly, the fact that family awareness and early intervention can make a significant impact on the underage drinking trend that persists throughout the country - according to a new report issued by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Dr. Mohammad said, “According to SAMHSA’s findings, there is still an alarming underage drinking problem that persists across the country and not only does that reflect poorly on the current preventative measures alcohol retailers have in place, but also indicates the need for a significant awareness push. Mohammad added, “Aside from underage drinking incidents being indicative of deeper issues that may continue to manifest if not addressed, underage drinking can lead to poor academic performance, sexual and physical assault, significant physical and emotional trauma, and even death.”
