BOARDMAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Boardman firefighters dedicated a new ladder truck on Friday.

The truck features a 100-foot ladder, that's 10-feet longer than the 21-year-old truck it replaces.

Crews also received several pieces of new rescue equipment to assist in severe car accidents.

"Our older truck is 22-years-old. While it might be shinny on the outside, the components are old, they need replaced. You don't see a 20-year-old garbage truck or bus out there. Fire trucks are kept nice. They are kept in working order, but they start to have a life span and that's where we are with that particular unit," said Chief George Brown, Boardman Township Fire Department.

The ladder truck cost the township nearly one million dollars and was purchased as part of their five year business plan.
