A reminder to donate the gift of life during the holiday season

Updated:

NILES, Ohio - This time of year people get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and can forget about donating blood.

That's why members of the Warren Junior Women's League were at the Eastwood Mall on Saturday asking people to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life.

Workers with the American Red Cross parked the mobile unit outside the mall so donors could give a critical gift at a time when the need for blood is great.

"It's something so simple that so many individuals can do and let's face it the hustle and bustle of the holiday season gets to all of us. We all have family engagements, but the fact remains there are still patients in the hospital that truly need this gift so we urge and encourage everyone who is eligible to come out and help us," said Christinia Gargas with the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross says one pint of blood can help save up to three lives.
