New Austintown fire chief sworn in

Updated:

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - The name of the new Austintown fire chief sounds a lot like the old one.

Chief Andy Frost, III was sworn in as the township's new fire chief on Monday night. He takes over for retiring Chief Andy Frost, II.

The new chief is, of course, the retiring chief's son. He decided to follow in his father's footsteps when he was hired in 1986.

"We have some grants to manage. With my promotion I have some promotions to make and some hiring so those are my first steps," said Chief Frost.

The new chief helped the department obtain three million dollars in grants when served as assistant chief.

His father served in the department for 46 years, before retiring this year.
