Jamael Tito Brown is running for Youngstown mayor

Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Jamael Tito Brown has served on Youngstown City Council and the Youngstown Board of Education and now he is setting his sights on the office of mayor.

Surrounded by family, friends and supporters, Brown officially launched his campaign at a downtown news conference.

The current council president says his goals for the city will focus on jobs, economic growth, crime reduction, government efficiency, and a plan for neighborhood improvement.

"We have to have a vision for our neighborhoods, even downtown I would consider a neighborhood. All of our neighborhoods, we have to go in there remove sub standard housing as well as make sure code enforcement is number one and critical," Brown said.

Brown says his goal would be to have a professional urban planner focus on city-wide improvements.
