Rene's Closet hosts clothing giveaway before holiday

Champion Twp., Ohio- A second-hand clothing closet in Champion hosts a clothing giveaway for those going through tough times.

Rene's Closet at St. William Parish on Mahoning Avenue opened its doors today to anyone in search of career attire and extra outfits.

The closet offers clothing for men, women and children, even clothing for infants, at its church office once a month.

A former member of the church first started the effort to help dress women who were looking for work.

Volunteers often help people shop for gifts closer to Christmas.

"We had people looking for books and tapes and toys that we had here for their kids, so it's very rewarding," Debbie Hayes said, Rene's Closet organizer.

Anyone wishing to drop off donations are encouraged to contact the church at 330-847-8677.
