Man fatally shot inside Sunset Lounge in Warren

WARREN, Ohio - The New Year is off to a deadly start in Warren after a young man was fatally shot at a downtown Warren bar.

Police report Cory Blackwell, 25, of Warren, was shot inside Sunset Lounge on Market Street. The incident took place at about 3:45 a.m. When officers arrived, a large crowd of people were fleeing the bar.

Officers were told by witnesses that shots had been fired into the air inside the bar near the dance floor and DJ. A second crowd of people gathered outside the bar on the sidewalk and that's where police say Blackwell was discovered wounded.

Blackwell was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital were he was later pronounced dead. Police are investigating the shooting.
