Ohio's Kucinich won't rule out future campaigns

Updated:

CLEVELAND (AP) - Ohio's Dennis Kucinich, a leading voice in the left-wing of the Democratic Party, has left Congress after 16 years and isn't ruling out another run for public office.

After watching members of the new Congress take office at noon Thursday, Kucinich said he's determined to remain a voice for change even if he doesn't have a House vote on Capitol Hill.

He tells The Associated Press in a phone interview from Washington, "It remains to be seen" if he will run for office again but nothing is immediately planned.

The former Cleveland mayor and 2-time presidential candidate lost in a Democratic primary last year to congresswoman Marcy Kaptur of Toledo in a faceoff forced by Republican redistricting.

Kucinich says he is excited to be planning his future.
