WARREN, Ohio - The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled against a former Trumbull County man trying to avoid execution.

Sixty-eight-year-old Veader Prince was raped and murdered at her Farmington home in 1997.

Her adoptive grandson, Sean Carter, has been on Ohio's death row for the crime, but a federal court ordered that his appeals process be delayed until Carter could be found mentally competent to pursue those appeals.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court overruled the lower court.

Carter's appeals are expected to continue. No execution date has been set.
