UPDATE: Autopsy of four-year-old shows signs of viral infection, influenza not determined yet

Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -A release from the Mahoning County Coroner confirmed that a viral infection played some role in the death of a four-year-old Boardman boy

The Mahoning County Coroner's office is investigating the cause of death of Hunter Ewert. The boy died unexpectedly in the hospital on Saturday.

Specimens are being tested by the Ohio State Department of Health to rule out influenza as a possible cause of death. The Coroner's office said it may take several weeks for the results.

Twenty children have died this flu season across the country including one in Ohio and one in Pennsylvania.
