Girard fire chief facing DUI charges

GIRARD, Ohio - A Trumbull County fire chief is facing driving under the influence charges.

Girard police say Kenneth Bornemiss went through a stop sign early Sunday morning and hit another vehicle.

A breath test showed a blood alcohol content of more than three times the legal limit.

Mayor James Melfi says Bornemiss has served in the department for 20 years.

He is currently on paid personal leave.

Bornemiss is due in court next week to answer to the charges.
