YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - School officials are waiting to hear what children services has to say about an alleged assault that took place last week involving an autistic student and multiple teaching assistants.

According to the student's mother, a caseworker told her that a teacher reportedly witnessed two assistants dragging the 16-year-old through a hallway at Leonard Kirtz School by his wrists.

The superintendent of the Mahoning County Educational Service Center says an investigation was launched by children services.

He says they completed their investigation Friday and are expected to make a determination shortly.

In the meantime, the assistants have been placed on paid administrative leave.

The superintendent says the assistants are trained and certified in proper restraint and seclusion measures.
