Gas and oil companies ready to drill in Lordstown

Updated:

LORDSTOWN, Ohio- Gas and oil companies are preparing to drill a well in Lordstown.

Contractors will build a driveway off Brunstetter Road providing access to a Halcon Resources well east of Highland Avenue. The well's rig will soon follow.

On Wednesday, Trumbull County Commissioners approved an agreement covering repairs of nearby roads damaged by heavy trucks.

"That is signed and in place to make sure that our infrastructure; our roads, our culverts and our bridges are properly maintained and if there are any damages done, they are responsible," said Don Barzak, Governmental Affairs Director in the county engineer's office.

Halcon has notified the county engineer's office of seven additional drilling sites.

Barzak says other companies have indicated interest in drilling 10 to 14 wells this year.
