Musician, teacher, and author Julie Lyonn Lieberman launches a fundraising campaign to create a Newton Peace Park Memorial educational website and free digital book to honor and support the community of Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting victims and survivors.

(PRWEB) January 17, 2013

Newton, Conn…..Newton Connecticut resident and musician Julie Lyonn Lieberman launches a fundraising campaign to create a Newtown Peace Park Memorial Educational Website and free digital book to honor and support the community of Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting victims slain on December 14, 2012 in Newton.

Author, violinist, composer, and artistic director for the summer program “Strings Without Boundaries”, Lieberman is creating a free digital book and interactive educational website to teach skills and offer resources promoting and teaching skills necessary to build communities of peace. "Some individuals spread poison through their evil words and deeds but every individual has the ability to alkalize that poison to create something wondrous. I call this spiritual alchemy. Newtown Peace Park will offer the skills and resources necessary to create a culture of kindness,” Lieberman says.

Lieberman’s project Newton Peace Park will be developed through a collaboration between spiritual leaders and peace-making experts. Award winning author of Elusive Peace Douglas Noll lends his skills in conflict resolution, peacemaking and experience as co-founder of Prison of Peace, an organization teaching peacemaking skills to incarcerated women—to Lieberman’s project. “Julie is committed to teach healing from tragedy, teach anger management, mediation, and transcendence in the hope that tragedies like Sandy Hook’s school shootings can be averted, and that all those affected have support to heal” Noll explains.

In addition to the book and website Lieberman is working on a Newtown Peace Park anthem to be published by Kendor Music that string orchestras can perform to commemorate the anniversary of the shootings.

“I hope to raise enough funds to seed these much needed community building services for this project to see fruition,” says Lieberman, who is utilizing Kickstarter for fundraising (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/julielyonn/newtown-peace-park-book) and building a Facebook community at https://www.facebook.com/NewtownPeacePark.
