WARREN - Warren police were on the premises of the McGuffey K-8 School on Tod Avenue Thursday morning to search students as they entered the school.

A note threating to blow up the school "tomorrow" was found on the school's internal messaging system Wednesday prompting the morning search and a sweep of the school Wednesday afternoon with the Geauga County Sheriff Department's bomb sniffing dogs.

No bomb was found in either search, but the dogs and officers will remain on school grounds.

"We were just being proactive as a district," says Michael Notar, Superintendent of Warren City Schools, about the morning search. "The key was to have a plan in place."

The threat cited poor treatment by other students, school officials report.

Students were asked by the school not to wear backpacks this morning in order to expedite the search process and resume the normal school day as quickly as possible.

School officials would not comment on possible suspects.
