YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A man was killed after his west side home caught fire early Thursday afternoon.

Mike Fergus, 53, became trapped in his home at 362 Broadview Avenue after a fire broke out on the couch and eventually destroyed the house killing Fergus.

Shortly after the initial call, scanner traffic revealed two occupants in the home when the fire broke out and one, the victim's brother, John Fergus, escaped the blaze unharmed.

John tells 21 News he told his brother, who is on oxygen, not to smoke.
