NEW CASTLE, Pennsylvania - A single vehicle accident closed a section of a New Castle street for about two hours on Thursday.

Shortly before 3:00 p.m., a woman lost control of her car as she rounded a bend down a hill on East Washington Street near Walnut Street.

The car sheared off a utility pole and then hit a stone wall.

The road was closed while PennDot crews removed the pole and downed wires.

Police say it's possible the driver, who's in her sixties, may have lost control due to a medical condition.

She was taken to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
