CLEVELAND (AP) - Thousands of students got an extended holiday weekend in Ohio as a snow storm and bitterly cold temperatures swept across parts of the state.

In hard-hit northeast Ohio, scores of school districts including Cleveland called off classes Tuesday amid blowing snow and temperatures that felt like minus-10.

The forecast called for 1 foot to 3 feet of snow in some areas, including the snow belt east and northeast of Cleveland.

Morning traffic was snarled in Cleveland, with ankle-deep snow on many local roads.

Dozens of schools in central and southern Ohio delayed their start times Tuesday because of frigid temperatures before dawn.
