HOWLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio-A house fire in Trumbull County claimed the life of an elderly woman Friday night.

Howland fire officials identified the woman as Joyce Barker, 71.

The house on DeForest Road in Howland was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived around 6:30 p.m.

The fire chief says Barker was found in the back bedroom.

Firefighters believe an oxygen tank may have been a contributing factor to the blaze.

Howland Fire Chief James Pantalone says "heavy fire conditions upon our arrival.  We believe she was on oxygen at the time so we believe possibly the oxygen was a contributing factor to the high volume of fire."

The Red Cross was called in to assist another resident, who was not involved in the incident, but has been displaced by the fire.
