BOARDMAN, Ohio -An autopsy revealed that a victim in a Boardman apartment complex fire died from smoke inhalation.

Forty-five-year-old Shawna Carney died after crews found her inside Mill Creek Village Apartments Monday during a fire.

Boardman fire officials say Monday's apartment fire started in a back bedroom of a third floor apartment.

Investigators say it could be a while before they determine the cause of the fire. Several devices are being tested to discover if they may have played a part in starting the fire.

"We believe what we found melted down, one of the items we are looking to have tested is an oxygen regeneration unit," Boardman Fire Chief George Brown said.

Eighteen apartment units were damaged in the blaze. Damages could exceed $900,000.
