Former booster president pleads guilty to theft

NILES, Ohio - James Mullen pleaded guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony, in a bill of information Monday at Niles Municipal Court.

Mullen, 45, Girard, stole more than $21,000 from the Niles Frontliners, a McKinley High School booster club that raises money for the football team.

During his time as president of the booster club, Mullen wrote unauthorized checks from the club's account.

Mullen resigned from the booster club and paid back the money he stole.@
