One dead and another injured from gunfire in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio  - One man is dead and another injured after gunfire erupts in Rockford Village Apartments on Rosewood Lane.

Detectives with the Youngstown Police Department and the Mahoning County Coroner's Office were called to Rosewood Lane just after 11:45 a.m. Friday.

Authorities found David H. Stokes, II, dead at the scene. Matthew Sharp was injured and immediately transported to St. Elizabeth's Health Center. Sources say he is in stable condition.

Both men were the apparent victims of gunshot wounds.

The crime happened in the Rockford Village Apartments, the same housing complex where 8-year-old Bryce Linebaugh was shot and killed while sleeping in his bed last year.

"We got some information it may be related to picking someone up from WRTA," Youngstown Lt. Doug Bobovnyik says. "We really haven't been able to confirm that yet."

Police say the murder victim did not live at the housing complex where he was found.

Detectives are looking for a suspect and working to determine if a robbery or other factors were involved.
