CLEVELAND (AP) - Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar's glowing assessment of a doctor's work to ease Kosar's slurred speech, insomnia and headaches has created a buzz amid rising interest in sports concussions.

Kosar publicly discussed his treatment last month. Since then, Kosar says he has been inby calls from NFL players wanting to know more about Dr. Rick Sponaugle of Palm Harbor, Fla.

Kosar told The Cleveland Plain Dealer in an interview published Sunday that the secretive treatments have worked for him.

Kosar's treatments included an IV tube and dietary supplements. The newspaper says neither Kosar nor the doctor would identify the supplements or what was fed through the IV tube.

Boston University neurosurgeon Robert Cantu says using IV therapies and supplements to treat brain trauma is not standard practice.
