Trumbull County Board of Elections to reduce number of voting precincts by 2015

Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - Members of the Trumbull County Board of Elections have agreed on a plan to reduce the number of voting precincts.

The number of registered voters assigned to each polling location within Trumbull County widely varies. The board is hoping to even-up the numbers.

There are currently 210 precincts within Trumbull County. The board expects to have the plan complete by 2014 and implemented by 2015.

"The time frame was the biggest thing. So, now that we have a year to come up with a plan, to look at maps, to look at populations, to look at precinct size; we can do the right thing the first time without feeling like it was rushed," said Trumbull County Board of Elections Chairman Mark Alberini.

Board members believe the plan will reduce operation costs and improve operational efficiency.
