Niles factory worker caught riding away with copper

Updated:

NILES, Ohio - A Niles man found riding his bicycle down North Main Street with copper stolen from the factory he works at was arraigned Tuesday morning in Niles Municipal Court.

Police arrested George Fryer, 38, Saturday near W. Margaret Street riding away from BRT Extrusions, N. Main Street, carrying the stolen copper.

He is charged with receiving stolen property.

Police followed Fryer's bicycle tracks to a dumpster at the plant.

Our print partner, The Vindicator, reports the valuable crane rail buss was possibly stashed underneath the dumpster and the copper was not scrap, but is now damaged and unusable.
