Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A local nonprofit organization has reached a milestone and is now nationally ranked for university endowments.

The Youngstown State University Foundation announced it surpassed the $200 million mark in endowments and is now ranked in the top third of university endowments in the country.

The ranking comes after a national endowment survey by the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Commonfund Institute. The survey included 843 colleges with the Youngstown nonprofit ranking 243.

With $207 million collected in assets last year, the foundation now ranks as the largest in the state.
