Mercer teen no longer facing murder charge

MERCER COUNTY, Pennsylvania - A Mercer County teenager no longer faces a murder charge in the shooting death of Sharon High School athlete.

One count of criminal homicide against 19-year-old Jontae Barnes was dismissed in court on Friday.

Instead, Barnes faces trial on charges of third degree murder and involuntary manslaughter.

Barnes is accused of shooting 17-year-old Leangelo Ford at a party in January.

Barnes told police that the gun fired when Ford pulled it from his hand.
