Fireworks in Trumbull County set off for 80th birthday

MESOPOTAMIA, Ohio - A large fireworks display at a farm in Mesopotamia set off quite a show with bangs that could be heard from a distance.

The owner of South Farm, Chris Gable, says the fireworks were part of a family friend's 80th birthday celebration Tuesday night.

"It was a big celebration and the gentleman loves fireworks," Gable explains.

American Fireworks in Hudson set up the display of about 5,600 fireworks at the Budysburg Road farm for more than 230 guests to enjoy.

Gable wouldn't name his friend but says every five years they set off fireworks for the man's birthday.

The show lasted about 20 minutes. Trumbull dispatchers received calls regarding the noise.

The Mesopotamia Fire Department says the family did have permits to set off the fireworks.
