Local kennel club donates funds for dogs in need of medical care

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Dogs in need of medical care at the Mahoning County Dog Pound and Adoption Center are getting some help.

The Mahoning Shenango Kennel club donated $5,000 to the nonprofit, Friends of Fido, which helps the pound.

The club donated the proceeds from their annual dog show at the Canfield Fairgrounds.

"So this year we decided to donate the money to Friends of Fido to go to the Mahoning County Dog Pound to help with the expenses like the medical needs of the dogs that come in," says Tyne Horvath the president of the Mahoning Shenango Kennel Club.

Over the last two years, Friends of Fido has been instrumental in providing medical care and rescue services to several hundred dogs from the Mahoning County Dog Pound and Adoption Center.
