Slocum cautious with Eargle

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown State men's basketball team is off until Saturday when the host Central Michigan in the bracket buster game.

The Penguins have been without Damian Eargle, who's missed the last two games with a broken nose.

During the taping of Penguin Gameday on Monday night (airs Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. on WBCB) Coach Jerry Slocum said he is not going to rush Eargle back.

"My concern is that we have him for the next week which is two conference games and the playoffs. I don't want to do anything this week that is going to risk not having him for the stretch drive," Coach Slocum said.

Here's the remaining schedule for the Penguins. Following Saturday's out of conference game against Central Michigan, the Penguins will play at Valparaiso next Tuesday and then close out the regular season on March 2nd at Wright State.

The Penguins are 7-7 in the Horizon League and still have a chance to host a first round playoff game.
