YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - On and off snow squalls made rush hour travel downright treacherous for some parts of the Valley on Tuesday.

Around 6:30 p.m. a crash involving six vehicles tied up traffic along the Himrod Avenue Expressway.

No serious injuries were reported.

Officers on the scene told 21 News that nearly 50 crash calls were reported within a half hour.

Icy roads may have also contributed to a crash along Route 422 Near Route 388 in Slippery Township. Just before 6:00 p.m. a vehicle t-boned a wheelchair transport van.

The vehicle's roof had to be cut off to remove the man and woman who were trapped for 45 minutes.

The crash victims were transported to Saint Elizabeth Health Center. The woman driving the van was also taken to the hospital. No word on their conditions.
