YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio- In response to the governor's State of the State Address, two Democratic office holders in Mahoning County say the governor's plan won't fix taxes, except for his wealthy friends.

County Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti and Auditor Mike Sciortino say the governor's plan is nothing more than a tax-shift, and one of the largest middle class tax increases in Ohio's history.

"While Kasich favors his political contributors and rich friends ahead of all the middle class tax giveaways schools and communities suffer from that," Rimedio-Righetti said.

Scirotino added, "These historic new tax rates don't just hurt working Ohians. They could also drive small business out of the state of Ohio."

The two office holders say the Kasich plan will place an extra tax burden on senior citizens, students and many others who are on fixed incomes or struggling with tight budgets already.
