WARREN, Ohio - Warren police are investigating an early morning stabbing.

The incident occurred around 2:56 a.m. at 1546 Mahoning Avenue, according to a report.

Police say 26-year-old Matthew Williams was found in a home with stab wounds. He had been stabbed in the neck and forearm.

Williams said that the unknown suspect had came to his apartment at 1834 Mahoning Avenue asking for help. When the victim let him in, the suspect attacked him and demanded money.

The victim was able to get away by jumping out a window. The suspect had also got away with an iPhone, Visa card and $5 in cash. 

The suspect has been described as a short, dark man around the age of 23 wearing rings, jeans and boots.

Williams was transferred to the hospital. Police are continuing their investigation.
