VIENNA, Ohio - A Trumbull County man is being hailed as a true hero.

When 93-year-old Fred Kubli Jr. was a soldier in World War II, he helped liberate a concentration camp.

For the past 30 years in his civilian life, Kubli has helped promote programs at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.

Kubli has been named an honorary Brigadier General by the 910th Airlift Wing.

"I appreciate it very much," Kubli says. "I promise I will honor this position and give it all my ability. It's number one in my schedule."

Kubli has also volunteered in more than two dozen other local organizations.
