YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - You might think that 17,000 deaths would get people's attention.

A group of local activists say that's how many children around the world die from malnutrition each day.

Members of People Fighting Famine are staging a three day vigil in Youngstown to raise awareness about the serious hunger problem.

They call it a silent killer. "The American people, along with people from all the other countries on the planet, are far too good to allow this to continue if they know about it," said Terry Vicars from People Fighting Famine.

The three day vigil is being held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Youngstown.
