Shale boom workshop held Saturday in Canfield

Posted: Updated:

CANFIELD, Ohio - Property owners who have not invested in the shale boom had a chance to learn more about it on Saturday afternoon.

A workshop was held at the OSU Extension office in Canfield.

It focused on topics such as leasing land, water issues, pipeline construction and taxation.

The speakers were from extension offices in areas of Ohio where drilling is already underway.

"They like coming to us because we are non-biased. We look at both the pros and the cons and we're just basically trying to help land owners make good decisions," said Steve Schumacher, OSU Extension Educator, Belmont County.

The farmers and landowners who attended also had an opportunity to speak one on one with the experts.
