Coach Wolford fills coaching vacancies

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - It appears that Youngstown State football coach Eric Wolford has filled the vacancies on his coaching staff.

As we first reported on Saturday, Eric Gallon is expected to be named running backs coach and former Illinois assistant Kurt Beathard is also expected to join the staff.

Gallon comes from George Jenkins High School in Florida and is a former teammate of Wolford's at Kansas State.

He was the head coach at the high school for one season and went 6-4.

Beathard is the son of former NFL general manager Bobby Beathard and was the offensive coordinator at Gardner Webb last season.

Prior to that, he served as the quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach at Illinois for three seasons.

YSU expects to officially name the new coaches later this week.
