LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - An arrest warrant and a summons for arrest have been issued in the illegal gambling case against an Internet café in Liberty Township.

Liberty police issued a summons for the arrest of 30-year-old Adam Syed who owns AMS Entertainment, the company that runs Belmont Sweeps in Liberty.

Liberty police seized 32 illegal gambling machines from Belmont Sweeps on Belmont Avenue after a two-week investigation uncovered slot machines being used in cash payouts. The business was closed Friday and is to remain closed.

Locating Syed has been difficult because his address is listed as a post office box in Akron, police tell 21 News.

The summons gives Syed a couple weeks to turn himself in to the court before a warrant for his arrest will be issued.

In a statement to police Tuesday morning, a former business partner said, at the time he disassociated himself with AMS a year ago, there were no slot machines in any of the company's businesses although there had been talk of it by Syed.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Amber Al Mhaiat, an employee of Belmont Sweeps, after she failed to appear in Girard Municipal Court for arraignment Tuesday.

Al Mhaiat, of Saratoga Street in Warren, is charged with gambling and operating a gambling house after Friday's raid of the Internet café.

Patricia A. Micochero, of Roslyn Avenue in Akron, was also arrested as part of the raid.

Micochero pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Girard Municipal Court to charges of gambling and operating a gambling house. Her bond was set at $5,000.

Al Mhaiat's bond is set for $7,500.
