Emergency crews battle gas leak in Greenville

Posted: Updated:

GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania - Greenville emergency crews had some tense moments Monday evening handling a major natural gas leak.

Fire officials say it happened right at 5:00 p.m.

A contractor working on a water line accidentally broke a four inch gas main at the corner of Columbia Avenue and Main Street sending a plume of gas straight up into the air.

By 7:30 p.m. the leak was completely under control, although a repair crew was still on the scene at 8:30 p.m.

There were no injuries or evacuations.
