Brookfield grocery store honored

Posted: Updated:

BROOKFIELD, Ohio - A Brookfield grocery store known for its bakery and deli received a prestigious honor on Friday.

The Ohio Grocers Association presented the Pinnacle award to Mr. D's Delicious Fresh Food in Brookfield. The owners handed out a variety of samples of the store's signature cake.

The award is given annually based on operational excellence and significant contribution to Ohio's food industry.

Owners Larry and Ed D'Onofrio say community outreach efforts such as its Save a Tape program are what set the store apart.

That program has raised more than $150,000 for local schools, churches and the Brookfield Fire Department.

"In our 30 years, we've donated back to the community over $500,000 and we've dumped that much more into our business," said Larry D'Onofrio.

The D'Onofrios will be recognized at the Ohio Grocers Annual Trade Relations Gala on April 13th in Columbus.
