POLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Two men are dead, and a third was taken to the hospital after their car crashed into a tree on Sunday afternoon.

The crash took place on New Castle Road in Poland Township. The driver and front seat passenger of a Hyundai Santa Fe died at the scene.

A witness said he saw the car heading west, slowly go off the left side of the road, hit a mailbox, and then a tree.

Police officials said 49-year-old Louis Pullia and 55-year-old Thomas Costello both died at the scene. The third passenger, 41-year-old Charles Park was transported to the hospital with injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the investigation is in the preliminary stages but did find contraband in the vehicle. In addition, Lt. Hendrix said there was no ice on the road and weather did not appear to be a factor.
