YORK, Pa. (AP) - Police in central Pennsylvania say a naked man was rescued from his vehicle after it crashed into the Susquehanna River following a chase involving officers from three jurisdictions.

York County officials say the chase began in Springettsbury Township when a minivan was reported driving erratically Sunday and ended in Goldsboro when the car went off a boat ramp into the river.

Springettsbury Township police chief Thomas Hyers said arriving officers found a man "standing on top of the car naked as the vehicle was submerging."

Hyers said the vehicle had been reported carjacked earlier in Maryland. He said the chase reached speeds between 80 to 90 mph and alleged that the suspect tried to ram police vehicles twice.

The man was taken to York Hospital for treatment of hypothermia.
