BOARDMAN, Ohio - A two-car accident ends in a driveway pile up that pushed through the back of a garage.

Boardman police say the accident at 6711 Glenwood Avenue took place at about 7 a.m.

One of the drivers involved, Kevin Durina, of Boardman, said he was heading south on Glenwood Avenue when he tried to avoid a person pulling out of a side street who was not slowing down.

"I tried to avoid him, I clipped him and came all the way over to here and totaled this poor lady's car," Durina said.

Four cars were damaged in the crash. Durina's silver SUV slammed into the back of a black car, which was pushed into the garage attached to the home.

Neighbor Don Gaetano says it's a common scene outside his front door, but it's never ended this bad.

"I looked out the window and the car's pushed through their house," Gaetano said.

Boardman police say no one was seriously hurt, but Gaetano says children wait weekday mornings for their school bus near the end of the same driveway. He worries someone will be seriously hurt if nothing is done. He'd like to see a stoplight at the intersection of Glenwood and Melbourne Avenues.

"Somebody's got to step up and do something before one of these kids get killed, an hour and all the young kids would have been out there," he said.

It's not déjà vu for those who live near the intersection. It's often described as a popular shortcut motorists take to reach Glenwood Avenue or Market Street.

From January 2012 to date, police records show six accidents with injuries have taken place at the intersection, including the driveway pile up Monday.

Glenwood Avenue is maintained by the county and the Mahoning County Engineer's Office says a safety study would have be conducted to determine if the intersection would qualify for a stop light.

So far, the office has not received complaints or a request from Boardman Township to examine traffic concern.
