Winter storm moving through the Valley tonight

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A winter storm will track into the region tonight, but much of the Valley will escape the worst of the snow this time.

The system is expected to take a path that will bring several inches of heavy, wet snow to central and southeastern Ohio, as well as southwestern Pennsylvania.

Northeast Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania will be on the northern fringes of the snow and accumulations will range from very little north of Youngstown to 2-4 inches in Columbiana County.

The snow will taper off and end Wednesday morning. Anyone with travel plans to the Pittsburgh area tonight andWednesday morning should plan on a slower trip.

This storm will bring up to a foot of snow to eastern West Virginia, northern Virginia and parts of Maryland. The nation's capital will finally get a snowstorm after seeing very little snow over the last couple of winters.
