Hermitage Kohl's makes grand opening

Posted: Updated:

HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania - After months of discussion and planning between the developer, city and school officials, a new business in Hermitage has finally opened its doors.

Kohl's made its grand debut at 570 S. Hermitage road on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. The new business is one of nine new stores opening in the country and will bring 105 new jobs to the city, according to a media release.

The opening comes after a lot of planning by the developer, the county, the city and Hermitage School Board.

The school board needed to vote on a tax incremental financing plan, or TIF, to happen. The TIF would defer 69 percent of the property taxes generated by the development for 20 years.

The TIF was originally turned down, before passing 7-2 during a second vote, paving the way for the business to be established.
