YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Unless the Youngstown School Board can keep Connie Hathorn as superintendent, the state may take over control of the school system.
Hathorn, who was not chosen to lead the Little Rock, Arkansas schools, is still without a contract renewal here.
The school board has not acted on Hathorn's evaluation.
The chairman of the Academic Distress Commission appointed by the state says if Hathorn is not retained as Youngstown superintendent, a state monitor will be appointed to take control of the district from the local school board.
The board would not have control of the district's finances or academics.
