Dick Angle stepping down at Howland

Posted: Updated:

HOWLAND , Ohio - Dick Angle made it official this morning at Howland High School. He said he is stepping down but closing the book on his coaching career.

Angles hopes there will be a coaching opportunity in the Orlando area where his family is moving to.

Angle is the winningest coach at Howland and Ursuline. His teams won a dozen conference titles and qualified for the playoffs 33 times as well as a couple state semi-finals appearances during his 40 year span.

The one thing Angle stressed to his players over the years was to be classy on and off the field.

But there is only one thing more important than football for him. "It's a family atmosphere and that's hard to walk away from. Like I said when I talked, the only reason it's even doable is that I'm going to a little more important family, my own family. That makes it doable. Other than that, I probably wouldn't have stepped down," Angle said.
