Congressman to make announcement on bid for governor

Posted: Updated:

BOARDMAN, Ohio – Valley Congressman Tim Ryan says he'll decide within the next few days whether he will run for Ohio governor.

Ryan is in his 6th term in Congress.

He sits on the Defense Sub Committee and the powerful Appropriations Committee that determines where federal dollars are spent.

"I'm weighing where I am now on the appropriations committee, and what I'm able to do from that spot and what I'm able to focus on and the momentum we have here versus going for governor and having to stop doing that to run and what I could do if I won." Ryan said.

That word from Ryan comes as one of Ohio's top Democrats says he's forming an exploratory committee to consider a bid for governor.

Cuyahoga County executive and former FBI agent Ed Fitzgerald said he's concerned about the direction the state is headed.
