Quaker Steak and Lube gets pied

Posted: Updated:

BOARDMAN, Ohio - Getting a pie in the face at Quaker Steak and Lube Wednesday was all for a good cause.

The Boardman restaurant sold whipped-cream pies for $2 each to benefit Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley.

Customers got to throw the pies in the faces of several Quaker Steak employees.

Doreen Sahli with Quaker Steak says her daughter has a kidney disease and gets treated at Akron Children's a lot.

"They've always been helpful to do everything they can to make her healthy and it's just very important to give back to the comunity," she says.

Wednesday was a kick-off event for what will become a monthly fundraiser at the Lube.

The first Wednesday of each month the restaurant will donate 10 percent of sales that are sold between 5 and 8 p.m. to the hospital.
